When can I apply for jet 2022?
The JET Program application is open once a year between late September to mid-November. All applications must be submitted during this time via our secure online portal. The deadline is final, and no applications will be accepted after it has passed.
What qualifications do you need for the JET Program?
Applicants to the JET Program in the U.S. must:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Complete a Bachelor’s degree by June 24th, 2022.
- Have native-level English speaking proficiency.
- Not have lived in Japan for a total of six years or longer in a 10-year period prior to the departure year.
How competitive is JET Program?
Is Jet program competitive? The JET Program application is a competitive process. Several thousand applications are received each year, about half of all applications will be invited to interview, and then only the top candidates are selected for participation.

Does Jet pay well?
JET participants are hired on a yearly contract basis for up to five years, and will recieve a salary of approximately 3.36 million yen their first year. This increases to 3.6 million in the second year, 3.9 million in the third year, and 3.96 million for the fourth and fifth year.
Is Jet salary enough?
The JET Programme salary is enough to live comfortably, travel and save money. The salary increases with each year on the JET Programme. The salary is the same for both ALTs and CIRs.
Can I open an account with my Sassa card?
I Get A SASSA Grant, Will I Be Able To Open An Account? Yes. If you receive a grant of at least R1200 per month, then you could qualify for an account. You need to provide proof of your grant by submitting your latest 3 months’ bank statements.
When do you apply for the jet program?
The application period for the JET Programme is usually between September and November. The application forms are only available at this time. There is only one intake of applications per year and that is always for a departure to Japan the following year in either April or July/August.
How to get a reference for the jet program?
On the JET Program online application, provide the email addresses of your references, and the JET Program will email them with secure logins for a separate portal where they can write their recommendation letter for you. Choose references wisely. A reference should be someone who knows you well, having closely supervised you at school or work.

Do you need a certificate of Health for the jet program?
If you answer yes to questions 1, 2a, 2b, or 3 as found on the Self-Report of Medical Conditions form. The Certificate of Health form is the third and final health form associated with the JET Program application. Only those who are applying for Early Departure should prepare this form with their application.
