What is self-holding circuit?

A “self-hold circuit” refers to an operation circuit that bypasses signals arriving from an external relay or other device by means of the contact of the relay itself. In this circuit, the contact of the relay (MC2) for driving the motor is connected in parallel to float switch limit 1 (LS1).

Why is the control circuit called a self-holding circuit?

Using a relay, create a control circuit. It is basis of the ladder diagram. As a result, the contact of the relay operates the relay instead of the push button switch. The relay will continue to operate even if the push button switch is released. This state is called “self-holding”.

What is a self-holding switch?

With a self-holding function or self-holding circuit , a short switching command (for example when a button is pressed) triggers a permanent change of state. A common (but not mandatory) feature of the self-holding circuit is that the control circuit is separate from the working circuit.

What is the purpose of a self-holding contact?

A self-holding circuit enables a control range to be set and also prevents the relay from switching rapidly due to ripples on the liquid surface.

What is interlock PLC?

An interlock is a feature that makes the state of two mechanisms or functions mutually dependent. It may be used to prevent undesired states in a finite-state machine, and may consist of any electrical, electronic, or mechanical devices or systems.

Why contactors are used?

A contactor is an electrical device which is used for switching an electrical circuit on or off. These contacts are in most cases normally open and provide operating power to the load when the contactor coil is energized. Contactors are most commonly used for controlling electric motors.

What is the purpose of control circuit?

A control circuit is used to ensure that the motor is started and stopped in a safe manner for both the operator and the equipment. The thermostat is part of a low-voltage control circuit that controls a relay that actually energizes and de-energizes the power circuit to the air conditioning compressor.

What is holding contact?

Holding contacts are a set of: normally open contacts that provide a path for current to the coil which operates them. The letter or letters shown beside a set of relay contacts on a schematic drawing describes: to which relay the contacts belong.

What is meant by self holding a call relay?

What is meant by self holding a call relay? Holding a relay in with its own contact. What purpose does R2c serve? To limit current draw during reset of. 2C.
