What is FibroMax test?

FibroMax™ offers an end-to-end liver diagnostic service from a single blood sample. BioPredictive’s five main diagnostic tests are included in FibroMax, for a complete assessment of the condition of the liver and the five main causes of liver disease 1 . FibroMax = FibroTest + ActiTest + SteatoTest + NashTest + AshTest.

What is acti test?

Interpretation. FibroTest-ActiTest provides a score that assesses hepatic fibrosis (F0-F4) and a score that assesses hepatic inflammatory activity (A0-A3). Interpretation of the score is provided in the report.

What is a liver fibrosis test?

Ultrasound elastography is a special ultrasound technique to test for liver fibrosis. The movement of the liver caused by ultrasound wave is measured in the middle of the liver, and its stiffness (or elasticity) is calculated. Fibrotic livers are stiffer and moves to a greater degree compared to normal livers.

What can cause liver fibrosis?

What are the causes of liver fibrosis?

  • autoimmune hepatitis.
  • biliary obstruction.
  • iron overload.
  • nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, which includes nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)
  • viral hepatitis B and C.
  • alcoholic liver disease.

What is Stage 4 liver fibrosis?

When fibrosis progresses to and distorts the liver architecture with formation of nodules, it is considered stage 4 fibrosis (F4) or cirrhosis.[6] In clinical practice, patients with F3 are approached similar to patients with compensated cirrhosis regarding screening for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and for varices.

What is portal fibrosis?

Non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis is a syndrome of obscure etiology, characterized by ‘obliterative portovenopathy’ leading to PHT, massive splenomegaly and well-tolerated episodes of variceal bleeding in young adults from low socioeconomic backgrounds, having near normal hepatic functions.

Is Mild pulmonary fibrosis serious?

Pulmonary fibrosis is a serious, lifelong lung disease. It causes lung scarring (tissues scar and thicken over time), making it harder to breathe. Symptoms may come on quickly or take years to develop. No cure exists.

How is fibrosis caused?

Causes of pulmonary fibrosis include environmental pollutants, some medicines, some connective tissue diseases, and interstitial lung disease. Interstitial lung disease is the name for a large group of diseases that inflame or scar the lungs. In most cases, the cause cannot be found.

What do you need to know about FibroTest ActiTest?

FibroTest-ActiTest estimates the levels of fibrosis/cirrhosis in the liver and the level of necroinflammatory activity. Fibrosis and activity are the two main causes of liver disease. Fibrosis is a medical condition caused by the reaction of a diseased liver.

What are the markers for fibrosis in ActiTest?

The ActiTest adds a marker for inflammatory activity (alanine aminotransferase: ALT). These markers are weighted depending on the patient’s age and gender. Testing is compliant with BioPredictive’s technical recommendations and approvals. Fibrosis and inflammatory activity are the 2 main causes of liver disease.

What are the biomarkers in the FibroTest test?

FibroTest combines 5 standard biomarkers (gamma-glutamyltransferase, total bilirubin, alpha-2-macroglobulin, apolipoprotein A1, and haptoglobin). The ActiTest adds a marker for inflammatory activity (alanine aminotransferase: ALT). These markers are weighted depending on the patient’s age and gender.

What is the FibroTest score for minimal fibrosis?

Reference Values FibroTest Score Stage Interpretation 0.00-0.21* F0 No fibrosis 0.21-0.27* F0-F1 No fibrosis 0.27-0.31* F1 Minimal fibrosis 0.31-0.48* F1-F2 Minimal fibrosis
