Is it worth staying in Jasper?
Jasper is definitely worth it and is underrated in my opinion. Many things to do in the area that couldn’t be accomplished in a day trip. The town of Jasper has less to offer than Banff but much more than Lake Louise (not downing LL, we stayed there 5 nights).
How many nights should I stay in Jasper?
Three days will give you enough time to see the main tourist sights in Jasper National Park, but you could spend three weeks hiking and not run out of options. I would suggest maybe a minimum of four days to sightsee in the Banff/Lake Louise/Yoho area, and again, there are dozens of hikes available.

3 days
Someone can probably spend 2 weeks in Jasper National Park and not experience it all, but unfortunately most visitors don’t have weeks to spend. Generally 3 days to 4 days in Jasper National Park is a good start to see all the famous sights and experience the best hikes in the Canadian Rockies.
