Does gypsum board contain water?

First of all, gypsum board products have a certain level of water in the paper, and water is chemically bound into the gypsum itself. Under normal circumstances, this water is not detrimental to the performance of the gypsum board.

What is the density of gypsum board?

approximately 600 to 1000kg/m3
Density will be approximately 600 to 1000kg/m3 depending on board type.

Is plasterboard water resistant?

Gyproc Moisture Resistant plasterboard is specifically designed to tolerate moist and humid conditions. This impressive plasterboard absorbs less than 5% of water, provides great fire protection and acoustic insulation where needed.

Does gypsum resist water?

Traditional gypsum board products do not like water. Some of the new panels and boards are designed to function better in a moist or wet environment; however, the regular wallboard that is the most familiar to applicators must be kept dry.

Does gypsum water damage?

Because gypsum board has hydroscopic properties (it tends to absorb and retain water), water can damage the materials that make up the board and make it functionally unacceptable, along with the possibility of producing organisms, such as mold or mildew that can cause illness.

What is the bulk density of gypsum?

460 kg/m 3
Gypsum with the bulk density 460 kg/m 3 foamed by the stone dust.

What happens when gypsum gets wet?

While drywall is made of some pretty sturdy stuff, it can sustain damage when exposed to water for too long. If moisture damage isn’t addressed swiftly, the structural integrity of the drywall becomes compromised, causing it to become soft, weak and susceptible to mold growth.

Is gypsum board moisture resistant?

Gyproc® Moisture Resistant consists of an aerated gypsum core with water repellent additives encased in, and firmly bonded to, strong moisture resistant paperliners that are green in color. Gyproc® MR is a plasterboard that is suitable for drylining internal surfaces.

How to calculate the density of Gyproc wallboard?

To calculate the density of the plasterboard, establish the weight per square metre and divide it by its thickness (metres), e.g. 12.5mm Gyproc WallBoard weighs 8kg/m2, divide by 0.0125m = 640kg/m3. What is the fire resistance performance of Gyproc plasterboard?

What is the thermal conductivity of Gyproc wallboard?

Our Gyproc ThermaLine laminates comprise of plasterboard (thermal conductivity 0.19 W/mK) and rigid foam insulation (thermal conductivity of the foam ranges from 0.02 to 0.04 W/mK depending on type). What is the density of Gyproc plasterboards?

What can Gyproc wallboards be used for?

Gyproc Wallboards are the ultimate lining solution for today’s buildings, providing cost effective drylining performance to help create modern internal environments that enables comfort and safety for occupants.

What’s the minimum bend radius for gypsum wallboard?

The minimum bend radius of plasterboard varies depending on board thickness and type. 12.5mm Gyproc WallBoard can be curved to a minimum radius of 3600mm and 15mm to 4800mm for example. 6mm Glasroc F MULTIBOARD is our best performing board in terms of bending being able to be curved to minimum radius 600mm.
