Can you paint over UltraCote?

Painting: UltraCote® will accept most types of polyurethane, epoxy, and automotive acrylic paints. It’s recommended that the surface be scuffed with 000 steel wool or Scotch® bright pads then thoroughly cleaned with acetone or thinner before painting.

Can you paint monokote?

Ultra coat is fine to paint over and is a polyester based material. The monokote is a much slicker surface and is a mylar based covering. Striping over monokote is fine (1/16″ stripes with one shot or house of color striping paint).

How do you cover monokote?

Covering Steps

  1. Sand the airframe to perfection.
  2. Clean the workbench and airplane parts with a vacuum.
  3. Seal the covering all the way around after trimming with the iron set at 225°.
  4. Use a heat gun to shrink the covering.
  5. Iron the covering to the wood with the iron set at 350° using an iron sock.
  6. Apply any graphics.

How do you cover MonoKote over MonoKote?

Monokote over monokote sealed with trim solvent becomes one piece and works very well… HOWEVER…if your top colour is a darker color than your bottom colour it will shrink at a slower rate than the lighter colour so you have to be careful with a heat gun when shrinking the covering.

How do you use UltraCote over UltraCote?

Mix up some soapy water in a spray bottle, like you were going to do decals. Spray the surface with the soapy water and place your new piece of Ultracoat on it. This will also allow you to position it where you want. I used a squeegee made from 1/16 balsa sheet, with the side to use going with the grain.

What is the difference between MonoKote and UltraCote?

How do you get paint off of MonoKote?

You would have to scotchbrite the monokote first the apply a coat of transperant plastic primer, I would use a basecoat and then clear with flexible additive, this is the way that 3W do it and I have never heard of anyone saying the paint come off thier 3W model.
