Can M&P Shield handle +P ammo?
+P is fine in limited use and there is no reason to use it for practice or range work. Its expensive and somewhat hard on the gun. Just be sure your +P self defense ammo works in the gun and then use something milder for routine shooting. BTW, do NOT use +P+ in your Shield or any other gun you care about.
What is the best practice ammo for Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm Shield?
If you want to be on the safe side, stick with ammo from the major manufacturers: Federal, Speer/CCI, Winchester, or Remington. Some other brands that have a good reputation are Fiocchi and Sellier & Bellot.
Why does 9mm ammo say Luger?
So, 9mm Luger is the most common name you’ll see listed by manufacturers and ammunition stores. (Unless they simply have it listed as “9mm.”) The name honors Georg Luger, the German firearms engineer who in 1901 designed the cartridge for the German Weapons and Munitions Factory (DWM).
What is HST ammo?
Ammunition. In 2002, Federal Premium introduced its HST ammunition, which was intended for—and sales were restricted to—law enforcement. This “tactical” ammunition featured a new bullet designated “HST.” Some hypothesized the abbreviation stood for “Hi-Shok Two,” but in reality it was just a name.
What’s the difference between 115 and 124 grain ammo?
The nuances of this bullet vs. that are minor; use what feeds and use what you can use to hit the target. The difference between 115 and 124 gn is very slight. In some firearms, the 147 grain dont’ feed as well; they’re longer. 124 gn are my personal choice, but the differences in 115, 124, 135, and 146 grain are slight.
Which is better 147 grain or 124 grain?
The G19 does almost as well with 147 grain but the G26 performs poorly with 147. I have a Taurus PT92AF that likes the heavier 147 better but the 124 has almost as tight of group. I had relegated the PT92 to nightstand duty but I came into a quantity of Hornady 147gr JHP XTPs.
How many rounds are in the M & P shield plus?
As far as I can tell, the Shield Plus is functionally identical to the two previous versions of the shield and collectively I have well over 3,000 rounds through all versions of the Shield combined with next to no non-ammunition-related malfunctions.
