What is water resistant shell?

Water-resistant jackets will have a waterproofing repellent coating (called DWR) applied to the outer fabric to prevent absorption of water, this means that water droplets will bead and roll off the fabric.

Are shell tops waterproof?

Can softshell jackets be waterproof?

Softshell Jackets are lightweight, breathable and generally windproof and water-resistant, too. They are worn as part of a layering system, together with a base layer and a breathable, waterproof outer hardshell (simply known as a shell jacket).
