How long does it take to become a CADC?

With self-paced online classes, you can complete your CADC certification education classes in as little as six months. Of course, you certainly don’t have to complete your classes this quickly, but if you are truly looking to jump start into a rewarding new career, you can be ready to go in as little as six months.

What is a certified AOD?

CADTP AOD Counselor Certification, the CAODC (Certified Alcohol & Other Drug Counselor) is accredited by NCCA and California DHCS and is valid in any AOD/SUD setting. CAODC Counselors may work in Residential, Outpatient, Detox, or any other setting under DHCS SUD. Transfers to CADTP for CAADE Counselors are free.

How do I get SUD certified?

Applicants will have five years from the date of being registered as an SUD counselor to complete the following:

  1. 315 hours of formal SUD related education.
  2. 2,080 hours of SUD related work experience (160 hours of supervised practicum)

Can a CADC practice independently?

CADC or LCADC LCADCs can work independently and make a diagnosis, which also means LCADCs can run their own private practice. Often, a CADC is who you meet with during (and following) rehabilitation treatment.
