How good are spartan lockers?

The Locker would bind and lock and unlock pretty hard. So I had to take my turns pretty easy and some times I would cost in neutral. (I have a 5 speed). I still love it, I got me over obstacles way smoother than my buddies with bigger tires.

What does a spartan locker do?

The Spartan Locker, USA Standard Gear’s lunchbox locker, provides game-changing traction at a low cost. A locker physically joins the drive axles together so they deliver an equal amount of torque to each tire, regardless of available traction.

How do drop in lockers work?

In a lunchbox locker, the hole where the center pin goes through is shaped like an oval instead of a perfect circle. When torque is applied, it forces the pin to move a little bit. When the pin moves it pushes the cam gears into the axle gears, locking them together.

Are lunchbox lockers any good?

They’re super easy to install and are great if you want to have a locker in your rig for cheap. If you plan on buying a lunchbox locker we recommend buying one for your front axle.

Are lunchbox lockers noisy?

Lunchbox lockers make a very loud ratcheting sound when they’re cornering. They also have a tendency to unexpectedly lock and unlock. They’ll randomly lock and unlock because of how we corner in vehicles. Due to the fairly violent locking and unlocking mechanic, lunchbox lockers are notoriously short lived.

Do rubicons come with lockers?

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is the only Jeep that comes from the factory with default lockers and axles, both the front and rear. Dana 44 axles are beefier and all Wrangler models today carry them with a gear ratio of 3.21 or 3.73.
