Since the Sixties I have always used “Surgical Spirit ” obtainable from Boots. And/or similar chemists or Pharmacies… About £1 a bottle. A 500ML bottle will last for ages. I’ve used it to clean the heads on Reel recorders ,Cassette recorders and Video heads.
